Family business consulting
Family-owned is a feature. Not a flaw.
Private equity is calling every home service company past $5M, and the pitch is always the same: you can't get to the next level on your own. You can. We bring the growth playbook buyers use, and you keep the business, the name and the upside.

The owner still sets direction. They just stop being the bottleneck for every call.

Why family-owned wins
What a buyer can’t bring with them.
Family ownership isn't what holds a company back. It's often the reason customers call you, techs stay with you, and the business made it to $5M at all.
A name people trust
Decisions for the long run
A team that stays
The private equity question
The playbook isn’t the buyer’s. You can run it yourself.
Private equity brings real things: capital, systems and people who've scaled companies before. Most of what drives growth from $5M to $50M is the operating playbook, and that doesn't require selling.
| Sell to private equity | Grow with 1337 Sales | |
|---|---|---|
| The growth playbook | Pricing, call center, marketing, ServiceTitan | The same playbook, run by us inside your company |
| Who decides | A board and an operating partner | You and your family |
| The clock | Usually planning to sell again within a few years | As long as you want: the next generation, or never |
| Your name on the truck | Can stay, or be folded into a platform brand | Stays yours |
| Your people | New management above them | Grown into the managers you need |
| The upside from $5M to $50M | Mostly theirs | Yours |
The family business ceiling
Everything still goes through the founder.
Family companies grow on trust and long hours. The same things cap them: decisions that only the owner can make, roles that follow the family tree, and numbers that live in one person's head.
The owner bottleneck
Family and non-family roles
Numbers everyone can see
Succession-ready
Grow it before you hand it down.
A business that runs without the founder is worth more, easier to pass to the next generation, and easier to sell if that's the plan. We build the operating side. Your attorney, CPA and financial advisor handle the legal and estate side, and we work alongside them.
- A management team that runs day-to-day without the founder
- A growth plan the next generation helped write
- Clean, attributed numbers a buyer or lender can trust
- Marketing that books jobs on its own, not on the owner’s reputation
- Documented processes for booking, dispatch, pricing and follow-up
- A clear path for the next generation into leadership roles

Questions
What owners ask us
- What does a family business consultant do?
- A family business consultant helps a family-owned company grow past what the family alone can run: clearer roles, a management team, better numbers and a plan for the next generation. We focus on home service companies, so we also run the marketing and operations that drive growth.
- Do we need private equity to grow past $5M?
- No. Capital helps with acquisitions, but most growth from $5M to $50M comes from the operating playbook: marketing aimed at high-ticket jobs, a higher booking rate, follow-up on every estimate, and a management team that runs the day-to-day. You can do all of that and stay family-owned.
- What if we do decide to sell one day?
- Then you sell a stronger business. Clean numbers, attributed marketing and a team that runs without the founder are exactly what buyers pay more for, and you decide the timing.
- Do you do succession or estate planning?
- Not the legal or tax side. That belongs with your attorney and CPA. We make the business succession-ready: a team that runs it, systems that hold, and numbers that show what it is worth.
- Will you replace family members in the business?
- No. We help define the roles the business needs, then the family decides who fills them. Often that means family members move into the roles that suit them best.
Keep it in the family. Take it to $50M.
